Suggestions for Celebrating Rosh
Hashanah

A Feast
Have a joyous holiday
in your home with family. Set a special table
with your best tablecloth and dishes. Use the
centerpiece explained in this chapter. The woman
can light the festival candles. Include the traditional
apples dipped in honey with your meal.
Make Amends
Seek out anyone who feels hurt
or wronged and clear the air by asking
for understanding for any harsh words said, or
deeds done, during the past year. If anyone has
treated someone unfairly, this is the time to
correct it and make amends.
Read the Bible
The annual Torah cycle has the
following readings for the first day of the Feast
of Trumpets: Genesis 21:1-4, 5-12, 13-21, 22-27,
28-34; Numbers 29:1-6; 1 Samuel 1:1 - 2:10. The
theme of the readings is remembered
because Sarah and Hannah were remembered by God.
Blow the Trumpets
Get a shofar or buy the children
toy trumpets or make a paper maché shofar.
The sound of the shofar is a call to alert and
awaken us, but it is up to each and every one
of us to repent and come closer to God.
Make and Send New Years Cards
Use your imagination to make the
cards. One version is provided for you in this
here. Feel free to reproduce as many copies as
you like. Be creative. Use puff paint, sparkles,
jewels, and other decorations.

honey jar. Dance the Horah in a circle with
family and friends (see Unleavened Bread activities).

by Israels Hope which also includes Day
of the Lord, and many others.
